Pre-Operative Instructions

We understand that undergoing any type of surgery can be nerve-wracking, which is why we want to provide you with detailed pre-operative instructions to ensure your procedure goes smoothly. Let's work together to make sure you have a positive experience before, during, and after your dental procedure.

Surgeries With IV Anesthesia

Refrain from consuming any food or drink eight hours prior to surgery, except a small sip of water for morning medications.
Do not skip your regularly prescribed Rx medications unless instructed otherwise, and drink plenty of fluids the night before surgery to stay hydrated.
Remove any piercings inside your mouth for safety reasons and avoid wearing contact lenses during the procedure.

Dress comfortably in loose clothing with short sleeves and closed-toed shoes for easy access to place an IV.
Avoid acrylic nails or nail polish on index fingers, as it can interfere with pulse oximetry readings.
Have a responsible adult accompany you to the appointment, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive you home afterward. Remember that cell phone use is prohibited in recovery areas due to HIPAA regulations.

Surgeries With Local Anesthesia Only

Have a light meal a few hours prior to the procedure and take all prescribed medications unless told otherwise.
For more extensive procedures, it may be necessary to have someone available to drive you home afterward. This ensures your safety and allows you time to rest and recover properly.
After surgery, plan on resting for a few hours to allow the anesthesia to wear off and give your body time to heal.
Don't forget to put your phone on silent mode during this time so you can focus on recovery without any distractions.
