Wayne A. Michael, DDS, MD, FACS

Dr. Wayne A. Michael specializes in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with a particular interest in dentoalveolar surgery, dental implant surgery, corrective jaw (orthognathic) procedures, and maxillofacial trauma. Dr. Michael is trained in both dentistry and medicine. Originally from North Carolina, he received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a major in Biology and Chemistry. Dr. Michael then received his dental degree with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. Meanwhile, his medical degree was obtained from the prestigious UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas.

Following his dental training, he completed an internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. Following medical school, he completed an internship in general surgery, which laid a solid foundation to manage the most medically complex patients. Dr. Michael also received extensive training in anesthesiology through the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern and Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.

Dr. Michael completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at UT Southwestern/Parkland Memorial Hospital, internationally known as one of the premier training programs in oral and maxillofacial surgery. As part of his training, Dr. Michael has treated patients at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, The Veterans Affairs Hospital of Dallas, UT Southwestern University Hospitals, John Peter Smith Hospital, and Cook Children’s Medical Center. Dr. Michael is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

With extensive training in dentistry, medicine, anesthesiology, and surgery, Dr. Michael is uniquely qualified to treat a broad spectrum of oral and maxillofacial surgical issues for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and senior patients alike.

As of this writing, Dr. Michael is currently the Director of Facial Trauma at Medical City Plano. He is a member of the AAOMS, TSOMS, ADA, TDA, and North Texas Dental Society. Dr. Michael is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Personal Life

Outside of the office, Dr. Michael enjoys collegiate (North Carolina Tarheels!) and NBA (Go Mavs!) basketball, golf, sports shooting and marksmanship, and live comedy shows. Dr. Michael lives in Dallas with his wife, Dr. Meghan Michael, a Dallas native and Attending Anesthesiologist at UT Southwestern University Hospitals and Parkland Memorial Hospital, and their twins, Claire and Archer.
